One of the ways to fund a reading, writing workshop or other appearance by an author is to apply for a Literary Event Grant (LEGG) grant. In Georgia, writers who are on the Georgia Writers Registry may be funded this way. I applied and went through the process of being vetted for inclusion on this list of writers who make public appearances in Georgia in 2010. This means that qualified organizations may apply for speaking fee grants from $50 – $250 to fund my readings, speaking, and writing workshops.
