Donny Bailey Seagraves enjoys visiting with children grades three and up and adults of all ages to talk about reading and writing and lead writing workshops.
Appearances usually are booked at least six months in advance, whenever possible, but don't hesitate to contact the author, no matter what your time frame.
Other Author Appearances
For readings, workshops, lectures, etc., include the following information in your letter or email:
1.) How long would Donny need to speak?
2.) If the appearance is not a reading, give a suggested topic for the speech or other appearance.
3.) What is the offered honorarium?
4.) What travel expenses are covered?
5.) How many people are expected for this event?
6.) Anything else Donny needs to know?

Donny usually speaks to no more than 60 students per session, no more than three-four sessions per day, at the rate of $500 per day, plus travel, lodging and related expenses, if more than 30 miles from Winterville, Georgia, 30683.
For schools within a 30 mile radius of Donny's home or her mother's home in Cleveland, Tennessee (which is about 30 miles from Chattanooga), the special local rate is $375 per day, plus travel expenses, if speaking in Tennessee.
For a limited time, schools that pre-order paperback copies of Gone From These Woods by February 11, 2011, will receive a free or reduced-cost author's in-person or virtual visit during the 2011 or 2012 school year.

Donny recommends that students be familiar with her book ahead of time. Fifth grade students and up should have read Gone From These Woods before the author visits. Others may read the excerpt.
